Duryoga

The horoscopes or kundli of people have good yogas and sometimes bad yogas and the job of the Astrologer is to locate those yogas.Generally the good yogas are simply called yogas and bad yogas are known as Duryogas.The presence of Duryogas are not a reflection on the ability or status of the concerned person it actually brings misfortunes. Only in some cases the Duryogas relect the inherent character of the person

The Duryogas relate to combination of two or more planets or between planets and Rahu and ketu.There are many such bad yogas but only some of the important duryogas are being mentioned. The yogas relating to Rahu and ketu are the kalsarpa yoga,Guruchandala yoga,Grahan yoga when Rahu combines with Sun or the moon,Pitridosha yoga when Rahu combines with Sun in 2nd or 5th or 9th, Jadattava yoga when Rahu combines with Mercury and Rahu mangal yoga and all these yogas are dangerous. In kalsarpa when all the planets are hemmed in between Rahu and ketu creates lots of obstacles in life and has the greatest power in inflicting miseries till about 42nd year.The Guru Chandal is a combination of Jupiter and Rahu and depending on its placement it can be slightly bad or extremely bad and in every case it indicates hypocrisy and deceit.Grahan yoga is caused when the sun or moon is combined with Rahu.The placement of Rahu with the sun or the moon will indicate the severity of effects. The sun and the moon have direct clockwise motion while Rahu and ketu have anticlockwise motion.Now in a horoscope if Rahu is in a collision course with Sun or moon or a person is born during the eclipse the Grahan yoga has taken effect but if in the same house Rahu and the sun or moon have after the eclipse is over taken their opposite routes then there is much less fear.Grahan yogas concerning the sun has the danger of being prosecuted by the government or he may face the wrath of his father and other authority figures. The Grahan yoga concerning the moon related to disturbed mentality(pishacha yoga) or suicidal thoughts or a wicked perverted mind.The placement of Grahan yoga will modify or aggravate matters.Rahu mangal yoga cause friction with brothers and danger from strokes etc and Jadatta yoga is caused when the brilliance of mercury is overshadowed by Rahu and the persons intellect is chanelised in dangerous ways and the subjects intellect is not on having higher education etc but proceeds on evil lines.The Asura yoga is formed when Jupiter and Venus combined with Rahu or ketu or aspected by Rahu occurs in the 8th house. The subject behaves like a demon and though Venus and Jupiter in 8th may cause a partial Adhi yoga but the association of Rahu or ketu spoils the combination. It must be noted that Venus coiled with ketu always causes conspiracies.Daina yogas are caused with the association and exchange of lords of the Lord's of 1st, 2nd, 4th,5th, 7th, 9th or 10th and 11th with lords of 3,6,8and 12th.Even exchanges of 3rdand 6 or 6 or 12 or 8 may result in Daina yoga instead of vipareet raj yoga and one has to be discreet in judging such yogas on its merits.Daina yogas are 30 in numbers and causes serious upsets and disturbances.However all Daina yogas are not bad and PARIVARTAN yogas sometimes causes good.Karl Marx the founder of communism was born with certain planetary positions.Asc-Aquarius with Saturn in it creating a sasha yoga which is one of the pancha mahapurusha yogas aspecting 3rd, 7th and 10th. The 3rd house Aries is tenanted by Rahu and Moon and sun.There is an exchange of 3rd Lord Mars with 6th Lord Moon .Mars is in 6th cancer debilitated and thereby theoretically creating a Daina yoga as well vipareet yoga in PARIVARTAN. Such a Daina yoga will give both negative and positive results. Moon +7th Lord Sun +Rahu creates a loss of vitality,distorted thinking or revolutionary thinking and causing Grahan yoga of both Sun and moon as well as pishacha yoga.He was persecuted for his views. The 4th and 9th Lord Venus is in 4th ie Taurus with the 5th and 8th Lord mercury of Gemini.Therefore the yogakara Venus in his own house with 5th Lord mercury is a Raj yoga but the presence of the 8th lordship of mercury creates again a Daina yoga.The Raj yoga is not pure.Mars in 6th is good but debilitated but the exchange with moon in the third creats a situation for mars an moon to be in their own houses and escape debilitation for mars.The second and 11th Lord Jupiter is in 11th which is good and Jupiter aspects the 3rd (Saturn )and 5th (moon +sun+Rahu in Aries and Gemini 5th(7th aspect)and 7th Leo(9th aspect )Ketu is in the 9th libra. Sometimes ketu in 9th makes one a hypocrite or a non believer instead of having genuine spiritual leanings. (KARL MARX-5TH MAY 1818,2.36AM,6E 38, &49 N 44).

Having described some of the duryogas of Rahu it should be mentioned that Rahu does not always give bad effects. Rahu gives the results of yogakaraka planets when favourably placed and in 3,6,and 11 it gives good results. Rahu with Saturn sometimes gives good results and sometimes bad results.The other bad yogas are the unmada yogas (insanity)which is formed when mars and Saturn combine in the 1st house or oppose each other in 1-7 houses. Sometimes mars +Saturn combine in 1st house being opposed by Jupiter or Jupiter +Venus from the 7th house.The vish yoga is a combination of moon and saturn and in certain houses vitiates the thinking and creates a person born with sade sathi.The moon without any planet on either side creats a kemdruma yoga but if jupiter aspects the moon the yoga is nuetralised.The person born with a kemdruma leads a sinful life and is dirty in mind ,of low tastes and is of filthy habits even if he is possessed of wealth.The kapat yoga results when the 4th house is vitiated. The 4th house represents the heart but when malefic planets are posted in the 4th house being aspected by other malefic planets or combined with Rahu or ketu the person becomes a cheat.A chor yoga is formed when the Lord of 4th or 12th or both the Lord's are placed in 3rd or the Lord of 8th is posted in 2nd. The yoga of a beggar is caused when the moon is in the lagna and Saturn in Kendra from the moon and Jupiter is in the 12th house or Saturn and Rahu in lagna with Jupiter in 8th or 12th. There are a number of daridra yogas for poverty when there is a permutation and combination of Lord of 2nd and 12th and 11th or Lord of 5th in 6th. The main theory is that the planet's which cause the dhanaa yogas i.e. the 2nd and 9th and 11th or even the 5th should never be connected with lords of 12th or 8th or 6th.

One duryog sometimes spotted in the horoscope of ordinary men or cheats and crooks and even famous people is the presence of bandhan yoga.There are many combinations and permutations for bandhan or jail going yogas.The classical defination says that when the lagna Lord is combined with the 6th Lord there is bandhan yoga. The 12th house and Lord or even the 8th Lord or house may cause jail. The bandhan yogas generally involves 4th and 10th or 6th and 12th or pasa yogas in horoscopes.Bandhan yogas depending on the strength may cause incarceration for a period of three months to 30 years.

There are also yogas to having cancer which is called vrana yoga.When the Lord of the 6th house is a malefic and is placed in lagna or the 8th or 10th then vrana yoga is caused. This yoga mostly takes place Gemini,Leo, Virgo Scorpio and Pisces.Generally Saturn and Mars or Rahu present as well as the 2nd house causes cancer by too much smoking or chewing tobacco and may bring throat cancer.

Lastly I would like to Finnish with the Rajbhanga yogas.Those with the rajbhanga yogas are truly unlucky like Napoleon Bonaparte or zulfikar Ali Bhutto. In both of these cases the subjects enjoyed Raj yoga and later Rajbhanga.There are several reasons for Rajbhanga.When the sun is exalted in the birth chart but debilitated in navamsa rajbhanga is caused.The importance of Navamsa has to be appreciated in the cases of Rajbhanga.Exalted planets like Jupiter and Venus debilitated in navamsa is bad.Venus debilited in 5th house is bad and the same is the case of Jupiter being debilitated without redemption in navamsa. Sun debilitated in 10 degrees in Libra may cause loss of Rajyoga. The lagna lord in association with malefic sun or 3rd lord causes raj bhanga.It is well known that the presence of sun +Saturn makes a constitutional leader or king provided other good features exit in the horoscope but Saturn which is the people's planet is opposed to the royal planet sun and if the sun and Saturn combination is not proper will cause downfall and this is sometimes called Apakirti yoga and more so if aspected by Rahu or other malefics.Even Saturn alone in 10th house may cause a sudden rise with a sudden fall as Saturn gives power but if that power is wrongly used will bring destruction upon itself.The horoscope of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gives us an illustration of Rajbhanga yoga.zulfikar was a Gemini ascendant under the constellation of Ardra ruled by Rahu.The lagna Lord and 4th Lord mercury is in the 7th house Sagittarius with the third Lord Sun. The 2nd Lord Moon is in the 12th with Rahu and the 5th and 12th Lord Venus which is yogakaraka for Gemini lagna is in 6th with the 6th and 11th Lord mars and 8th and 9th Lord and yogakaraka saturn and ketu.and the 7th and 10th Lord Jupiter is in 10th in own house. On a superficial level this horoscope has everything fine.The 10th Lord Jupiter placed in 10th causes Hamsa yoga and the 11th Lord Mars with 9th Lord Saturn with 5th Lord Venus aspected by 2nd Lord Moon creates a powerful dhana yoga in the 6th house of mars which is his own house, the placement of venus in 6th and mercury in 7th creates a partial Adhi yoga and the sun +mercury directly aspecting the lagna which is the own house of mercury gave him a good physical appearance. However all these yogas are superficial as the Hamsa yoga of Jupiter is impure for a Gemini lagna as the 10th being a badhaka house.Moeover Jupiter in 10th is not so good except where there is a pure Hamsa yoga like for a Libra lagna Jupiter placed in 10th in cancer in exalted condition and unaspected by malefics is pure yoga.The vipareet raj yog of 6th Lord in 6th in company of 12th lord Venus and 8th Lord Saturn is vitiated by presence of Ketu which in company of venus always indicates conspiracies.The Dhana yoga is vitiated by ketu and also by the 8th lordship of Saturn and 12th lordship of venus and 6th lordship of mars.The lagna lord mercury of Gemini which is the 3rd house in the natural horoscope is combined with Sun which is 3rd from Gemini and the 3rd Lord in the badhaka 7th house of Jupiter caused his death by hanging.The Adhi yoga is vitiated by papadhi yoga.The moon with Rahu in Taurus in the 12th aspected by Saturn and Mars and ketu causes unnatural death. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto belonging to a rich feudal family of lanholders rose to be primeminister in a military set up which was unlikely but made possible by the vipreeta raj yoga ,became a victim of conspiracy and died an unnatural death. (ZULFIKAR ALI BHUTTO -DOB-05-01–1928,LARKANA,PAKISTAN, 04.29 pm,67 E o, 24 N 53 ,TIME ZONE 5.5.) Zulfikar daughter Benazir had also Rajbhanga in her horoscope and died to assassination.

Therefore duryogas affect people mentally, physically and materially and any destruction of mind is bound to affect the physical conditions and the same is the case with the destruction or deterioration of the physical and material well being will affect the mind.There are very few exceptions and these people are truly great.A volume can be written on duryogas but this is meant only for students and learners and not for the serious practitioners of Astrology who are all well versed in such matters.Astrological predictions not only requires serious study and concentration but lot of sound judgement and common sense and it is common sense which is not so common.
