Navamsha

NAVAMSA
Navamsa = 1/9th division of a sign = 3°^ 20`   = 1/4th part of a nakhatra. The whole zodiac of 12 signs with 27 nakshatras is divided into 108 parts.

Sequence of counting navamsa : the counting starts from the cardinal sign of each element.

1. For fiery signs  : count from Aries
2. For Earthy signs : count from Capricorn
3. For Airy signs : Count from Libra
4. For watery signs : count from Cancer
5.  Vargottama:

-  A planet occupying the same sign in the natal (D/1) and navamsa (D/9) charts is known as vargottama.   -  A vargottama planet is considered very strong, auspicious, capable of giving benefic results during the main and sub dasha period and transits. -

The parts of the signs which are vargottama:
a)The first part of a moveable sign (from 0^0`  to 3^20  )
b)  The fifth part of a fixed sign (from  13^20` to 16^40`)
c) The ninth part of a dual sign (from 26^40`  to 30^00`)

              - Some astrologers are of the opinion that D/9 chart is a supplementary chart  to D/1 chart.

Cultivating The Garden of God

Our spirituality is lived inside out, beginning with abiding.

By abiding, we cultivate the life that arises from within.

Developing this hidden life is like cultivating a secret garden growing in our hearts. Abiding becomes the taproot and the source of a healthy spiritual life.

Abiding in Christ is not going to Church, doing good works, praying, or reading Scripture. These may arise as manifestations. but they are not the source.

Abiding is not a state of doing, but a state of Being.

Abiding is entering our secret place of intimacy with Jesus, that place of rest, nourishment, and abundant life, at the springs of our being.

Being is our presence, not our actions, it is who we really are.

It is from our place of rest, of being in Christ, that we learn to live an eternal life.

We cultivate our garden by tending to the love, joy, and peace that arise from within us. We take time to savour their tenderness as they grow into our character.

This Presence, this hidden wholeness is the fragrance of God we carry with us wherever we go, and in whatever we do.

though Vimalananda never listened to or sang this song in my presence, it is precisely the kind of "filmi" song that he loved, one that though written to express human emotion can effortlessly be shifted to a focus on the divine.

an ardent devotee of God the Mother, Vimalananda's prayer to Her is well expressed in the words of the refrain:

Make space for my love in your heart,
like the flame of a solitary lamp in a temple

Wah, Ma, Wah!

(with thanks to Abhinav Chetan for his translation)

chhupaa lo yoon dil mein pyaar meraa ke jaise mandir mein lau diye ki

hide / make space for my love in your heart

like the flame of a solitary lamp in a temple

tum apne charnon mein rakh lo mujhko tumhaare charnon kaa phool hoon main

please keep me close to you

as i'm a flower blossom from your lotus feet

main sar jhukaaye khadi hoon preetam main sar jhukaaye khadi hoon preetam

I stand here with my head bowed low, o mother

I stand here with my head bowed low, o mother

ke jaise mandir mein lau diye ki chhupaa lo yoon dil mein pyaar meraa ke jaise mandir mein lau diye ki

like the flame of a solitary lamp in a temple

hide / make space for my love in your heart

like the flame of a solitary lamp in a temple

ye sach hai jeenaa thaa paap tum bin

ye paap maine kiyaa hai ab tak

magar hai man mein chhavi tumhaari

magar hai man mein chhavi tumhaari

ke jaise mandir mein lau diye ki

it's true that life is sin without you

and I have all but sinned till now

but I have your image in my heart

but I have your image in my heart

like the flame of a solitary lamp in a temple

chhupaa lo yoon dil mein pyaar meraa ke jaise mandir mein lau diye ki

hide / make space for my love in your heart

like the flame of a solitary lamp in a temple

phir aag birhaa ki mat lagaanaa ke jalke main raakh ho chuki hoon ye raakh maathe pe maine rakh li ye raakh maathe pe maine rakh li ke jaise mandir mein lau diye ki

please don't let me burn in the fire of separation

in those flames I have turned into ash

ash which now is smeared on my forehead

like the flame of a solitary lamp in a temple

chhupaa lo yoon dil mein pyaar meraa ke jaise mandir mein lau diye ki chhupaa lo yoon dil mein pyaar meraa

hide / make space for my love in your heart

like the flame of a solitary lamp in a temple

please hide / make space for my love in your heart

Mercury - Budh

Exploration of Graha/deities: Part 4: Budhadev
Om Chandra putraya vidmahe ilaa pathaye dheemahi thanno budhah prachodayath
Om vasudevaya vidmahe trivkramaya dheemahi thanno vishnu prachodayath
Om chaturbhujaya vidmahe vanamalaya dheemahi thanno narayanah prachodayath
Om gajadhwajaaya vidmahe
Sukha hastaaya dheemahi
Tanno Budha prachodayath
Om braam breem braum sah Budhaay namah
Namaskar to all. Today we will look into the jolly, friendly, curious scholar Mercury☿
☿In order for me to explain Mercury, I will have to go through the story of Tara and Chandra. This is the most appropriate version of the story I have found:
☿One day, chandradev while healing from an injury and learning from Devaguru Brihaspati, he had finish teach Chandradev and then requested his wife, Tara to look after chandradev and once he is healed, to send him on his way. Chandradev however, due to his insatiable lust began eyeing Tara in an inappropriate way, seduced her and took her away. The result of their union was Budhadev. Brihaspati, disturbed had consulted both Chandradev and Tara. Brihaspati, desiring to curse Chandradev due to him taking advantage of not only Brihaspati's help but also taking away his own Guru's wife. Brihaspati avoided so as him cursing would tarnish his position as a Devaguru. However the curse was already subconscious in his mind and hence it manifested such that chandradev, wisdom and clarity would not manifest effectively. This could be the reason why, in these days, Religion and culture, when exposed to politics and emotion becomes that of a battle. However whether its for Dharma or not depends on the situation. This can also give us a hint on how Gajakeshari works, brihaspati is upset with chandra on the situation and is gutted hence in Gajakeshari yoga, it can only give fame and recognition due to the fact that Chandra is the karaka for Arudha lagna and Brihaspati is the great benefic however the conjunction of these 2 were believed to be the time when the incident took place and it was on Chaturdaśi, when Suryadev was looking in the opposite direction hence, the light of Dharma was not on Brihaspati and Chandradev.
☿The result of such scandal was Budha. Budhadev was born without any blessing of Dharma as his birth was from a scandal. This led many to believe that Brihaspati (who is responsible for legitimizing every beings birth from Dharma in the form of marriage) is enemy to Budha which is simply incorrect and wrong, the scriptures dictate the reason...
☿Upon Budhadev's birth, he was a very active however intelligent boy. He was known to easily outwit and out charm chandradev which quickly made him somewhat friendly with other deva's. However as he grew and when the reason for his birth was revealed to him he was complete disturbed and developed an extreme disdain of Chandradev, promising to give chandradev any emotional or Jala tattva issue to him whenever they were close to each other. This is researched in jyotish as Sharada yoga provided Budhadev is stronger as it shows and represents the destruction of illogical and opinionated emotional reaction to situations and rather, logical, factual and good reasoning to situations. Such people with yogas between Budhadev and Chandradev may also have headache issues particularly on extreme ends of the Moon's paksha's. Moving on, Budhadev, worried and depressed, consulted Brihaspati as he was advised that Brihaspati is responsible for legitimizing the birth, or correcting any Adharma causing the birth, of any individual, this is one of the reasons why Jupiter is the greatest benefic and highest on the rating scale of order and why the Nadi astrologers give importance to him. Brihaspati upon accepting Budhadev, received him kindly however reluctantly but he remembered his duties as a Devaguru. Budhadev then explained his shock and "nervous reaction" to the situation. Brihaspati, realising that Budhadev was a child with good values in him, took him as his student, hence Brihaspati and Budha yuti or mutual aspect or parivartana is a form of Guru-Shishya yoga. Budhadev then rapidly began extremely strong desires for knowledge and learning of all types hence he takes his position as the scholar and researcher among the Graha's and was instilled in the skies. Brihaspati also took Budhadev as his own son! As factually, Chandradev did not want care of Budhadev and had decided to leave him hence Brihaspati, worried about what path Budhadev may take
If he did not have proper guidance, took him in and taught him as much vidya as he needed.
☿This is also the story dictated in many of the upanishads as the process of human Jeeva atma and bondage on this plain as well as our karma's. All Jeeva atma such as us are like Budha's in this situation. Chandradev have caused us to commit karma that binds us and forces us on this material plain. The Janma Nakshatra which is the nakshatra of Chandradev, is not advised to follow if it does not lead to Jupiter, who is the most benefic Guru and leads us to moksha and eventual cleansing of our Jeeva atma through Vidya (which is why Jupiter is Jeeva karaka). This ties together well as in ancient times, Jnana yoga was more prominent alongside Mantra yoga. As time went, yogi's introduced more and more yoga's to help humanity attain moksha. Chandradev represents not only why we were reborn but the 9th from him shows what Bhagya we have brought from past life while the Janma nakshatra of chandra shows what have we sinned in and what karma we have done with society that makes society keep us here and we, now as little Budha's, need to go to Brihaspati or Jupiter and his nakshatra which shows the path toward moksha or mukti and the path to reconciliation with our divinity. The acceptance of Budhadev, despite not being his son and born out or Adharmic means and then eventually teaching him ways of Dharma was Brihaspati's last tapasya needed for him to cleanse all of his Adharmic karma of the past. We as human beings need to learn the meaning of this story and not follow what society and Chandra is asking us to do but to follow what Devaguru Brihaspati is teaching us.
-Those who have yogas such as parivartana, or mutual aspect(Not Conjunction!) are said to be blessed and now we realise what parashara means in this as now people are learning the knowledge of Brihaspati as now he is teaching Chandra or the mind the correct things and is making our minds to Sadhana so we can atone for all our karma's of the past.
-There is however, a unique thing about those whose Janma nakshatreśa(Moons nakshatra lord) as ketu. It is said that those who have such a nakshatra in Krishna paksha is advised to do as much spiritual Sadhana as possible as such births are good for progress towards enlightenment and moksha. The same can apply if Moon is joined Ketu. If in Shukla paksha, it is said teaching or helping others on the spiritual path will be enormous good. The way one should do their Sadhana or teaching is indicated by Jupiter's nakshatra.
☿Link between Narayana and Budhadev
Many do not know and find it difficult to explain as to why Budhadev is linked to Narayan. This is due to Budhadev having a strong inheritance of capabilities of Narayan in him due to strong narayana yoga's formed at the time of Budha's birth which was well after Amavasya, months later. Budhadev and Narayan also share a very strong connection as being associated with Suryadev. After hearing stories of Dharma and Suryadev, Budhadev wanted to serve Suryanarayan. This eventually leads back to the connection of Narada as per Narad puran and stories of Srimad Bhagavatam.
☿According to Srimad Bhagavatam, when Rishi Suka was narrating to maharaj Parakshit, he mentioned of when Narada was explaining his past birth. He was a drunkard, associating with many women but friendly to all. He insulted a group of Rishi's doing a yagya ritual whereby they cursed him to be born from the servant of a rishi and to remain impoverished. I want to take a moment to step out and say that this past life behaviour of Narada is well equated to how scientists and modern "philosophers" and religious "experts" criticize others religion and culture because they think they are clever. These are also the type of people who criticize jyotish without properly learning and applying its principles and only rely to mathematics rather than wisdom of Jupiter and intuition provided from him and Sun. The mathematical stages of jyotish are the only stages of jyotish ruled by Mercury.
After that, the remedies for relieving problems come from Brihaspati (Jupiter), the predictions come from vaksiddhaguru(Venus), the past life analysis and pending karma's from Purvakarmakaraka (Ketu) along with Mokśa Vidya and finally the jyotiśa himself who is Surya (Sun). All the graha's have some place in jyotish. Many may argue Shani as being Purva karma karaka. Nowhere does it say Saturn is a specific type of karma, it is just stated as he is karma karaka, so Shanidev is Karma in general.
Going back to the story of Narada, he was reborn and began taking extreme intetest in Narayana and began his worship. Hence in last creation after all his Sadhana, Narayana granted Narada the blessing of being his most revered devotee in next creation, and so it was done. Hence Narada is linked to Budhadev and Narayan to Suryadev, therefore we also see Budhadev always close to Suryadev and associated with him always, therefore we have proven the connection of Narad to Budha and Narayana to Surya. Shukra also travels close to Suryadev but is known for being more distant than Budhadev, this is Ma Lakshmi. She is known to always roam as Dhanadevi.
☿Upon that story we also see that at one point Mercury can behave very materialistically but also be pivotal in spiritual progress and Vidya as knowledge is what sets one free however so long as you are learning, you can never attain the highest of realms of the divine as when you are learning you are still ignorant of most things. This is why Budha can only grasp Earthly things more and hence is exalted in Chitra in Virgo and the center of the Earth which is where Chitra paksha Lahiri lies which is the base of vedic jyotish ayanamsa. Then he gets debilitated in Meena or pisces which is when one enters the higher spiritual realm and realise that they know nothing at all.
☿Budhadev is the perfect description on how we as Jeeva's are being told lies and lies and being forced to be seen as truth. This is the Chandradev trying to make us execute karma for his satisfaction while Brihaspati is offering the real Vidya but isnt forcing us towards him. Most people succumb to Chandra and ignore Brihaspati and hence begin senselessly bashing and opposing Dharma, jyotish, Atma vidya which is what Brihaspati teaches. So we should learn to give Brihaspati a chance to teach and learn from him. He is feeding us the knowledge. We as Atma have been stolen from God due to Chandra and forced to do karma so we remain on this planet while Jupiter, who is Devaguru, the guru of the Gods, is willing to get us started on our way back to Narayana. When we begin learning this knowledge, the love of bhakti towards Narayana grows as we see how spectacular him and his creation is hence we slowly start to become like Narada in his phase of going from a drunkard trying to insult Rishi's to the point where he becomes a Devarishi which is the highest type of Rishi status.
☿Narada is also the only one who can put Rahu in his place as only he can outspeak and outwit Rahu. Hence conjunctions of Mercury and Rahu whereby Mercury is stronger is auspicious. In D20 and D24, the position of Mercury is seen as extremely important according to esoteric astrology which I have begun learning and is spectacular. The position of Mercury in the Jagannatha drekkana is also very important for spirituality, as is his position in D30 and D60.
We show respect to thee who is the great scholar of graha's, the one who is most favoured by Narayana, the one who is ever joyful, the one who made communication possible, the one who ignites the desire of learning within us.
Om Budhaya Namah

Akshaya Tritiya – The Unique Day of the Year when both Sun and Moon are Exalted

Akshaya Tritiya Puja Muhurat - ‪06:22 AM to 01:05 PM‬
Light a Diya 🪔 with ghee or sesame oil with some mustard oil and camphor

This year’s Akshaya Tritiya shows not only exalted Sun in Aries and Moon in Taurus, but also exalted Mars in Capricorn, with Venus in its own sign of Taurus along with the Moon, and Saturn in its own sign of Capricorn along with Mars. Jupiter in Capricorn receives some cancellation of its debility. Mercury has just joined Aries along with the exalted Sun. These are promising combinations showing us that the coronavirus pandemic should be receding now.

Unfortunately, all these planets remain under a larger difficult Kala Sarpa (Serpent of Time) Yoga with Rahu in Gemini and Ketu in Sagittarius. But its power is waning. May this joint power of exalted Sun and Moon bring light, health and happiness to all! Only in India is this special day of exalted Sun and Moon honored. In fact it is regarded as one of the four most auspicious days in the Vedic astronomical year. Sun and Moon represent the Divine Father and Mother of all. Any actions started or resolves made on this date are much more likely to succeed.

What makes Akshaya Tritiya so special is that it is the only day in the year when both the Sun and Moon are exalted according to the positions of Jyotish or Vedic astrology. This is only possible when the Sun is located in Aries, its sign of exaltation, and simultaneously the Moon is in Taurus, its sign of exaltation.

On this day Sun and Moon, masculine and feminine energies, Agni and Soma, Lakshmi and Vishnu, Shiva and Shakti forces are both at their highest point of power but also in balance with one another.

Akshaya Tritiya falls on the third lunar day or Tithi of the bright half of Vaishakha month (April-May). In Sanskrit the word Akshaya means ‘never diminishing’, and brings auspiciousness and success in all our yoga and meditation practices and is good for personal actions and worldly affairs as well.

Akshaya Tritiya marks the birth of Lord Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is auspicious as Vyas Muni recited the Mahabharata to Sri Ganesha on Akshaya Tritiya.

Jyotisha or Vedic Astrology is an in-depth study to understand our deeper self and nature for enhancing personal growth and well-being. The birth chart is our karmic code to discover our karmic alignment, awakening our highest potential. Jyotisha opens us up to learning and ritualizing life so we can approach our existence from a place of deep authenticity and spirituality.

The Vedic wisdom awakens us to deeper insights in embracing life in a more dharmic way. Our relationship with the Earth, Nature, the Planets and Stars guide us in our relationships with humanity, plants, the animals, rivers and the five elements. We all must be peaceful Co-Workers on this journey through life.

Muhurta or Auspicious Timing

On Akshaya Tritiya any sincere wish made or action commenced will likely be fruitful and successful. It is a day that we can go beyond the limitations of our karma both individually and collectively.
Our prayers for world peace along with making offerings and contributions to the less fortunate will bring harmony into our lives and for the planet overall. Dakshina and gratitude to the Guru and the wisdom shared brings in the flow of grace for the deepest level of guidance and inspiration.

Pitri Tarpanam (honoring the ancestors) on Akshaya Tritiya is auspicious and said to help our past relatives. As they are now residents of the subtle worlds, they gain higher cosmic energies when we offer flowers, rituals and mantras on their behalf. Great blessings flow also our way when they are honored and are able to help us from these realms beyond.

In India on this date people bathe in sacred rivers before sunrise, offering prayers to Surya Deva, the Sun. You can use the mantra Om Hreem Suryaya Namah!

It is helpful to keep a fast and make offerings of rice grains as well as worshipping Lord Vishnu. Honoring the Tulsi plant and using water infused with Tulsi leaves is auspicious to drink as well as to sprinkle around the home and ones meditation room.

At night it is best to make an offering of a mixture of water, milk and honey along with mantras to the Moon to draw in the auspicious Soma or immortal nectar into our lives. You can use the mantra OM Shreem Somaya Namah!

People celebrate special Pujas on this day offering barley into the sacred fire, and worshipping Lord Ganesha & Devi Lakshmi for health and for both spiritual and material prosperity. When we spiritualize our lives the divine grace flows!

🐚सङ्कल्प Saṅkalpa or Sacred Resolutions 🐚

On this auspicious morning break a coconut at the entrance to your home or work place. Offer small pieces in all the directions –North, South, East, West, heavenwards and down to Mother Earth. The rest of the coconut can be eaten as Prasad.

Make an offering at a temple at some point during the day, if you can, and pray for universal peace and harmony. Make some kheer (milk and rice sweet preparation) and offer it as Prasad and share it with family and friends.

We should form a Saṅkalpa for drawing in the deeper wisdom or jnana and set our plans for renewing ventures, relationships, marriages and other sacred connections.
It is a powerful time for commencing a mantra sadhana with specific japa and spiritual practices. It is considered to be overall one of the most favorable days of the year for inner awakening!

As both masculine and feminine, Shiva and Shakti energies are balanced on this day, a Saṅkalpa for happiness in relationship is celebrated by married women who wear a red thread with vermillion around their necks, invoking blessings and harmonious tidings as well as the longevity of their partners.
Worshipping Lord Shiva brings blessings into the homes. Unmarried women place the red thread at the feet of Lord Shiva to find a partner who resonates with their higher Self.

Seeking the blessings of parents and the elderly in the family helps us heal our relationships, bringing peace and prosperity into our lives. Healing relationships with compassion and wisdom is important for our own soul journey.
Acknowledging and releasing all negativity, remorse, anger, resentment and envy helps us transcend our lower desire nature.

Manifest a Saṅkalpa for universal joy, prosperity, harmony and well-being, taking in the full light and vitality of both the Sun and Moon!

Ketu's Transit in Mula Nakshatra and the Perfect Indoor Money Tree (Pachira Aquatica)
~~~~~~~
Today I got this beautiful Money Tree (Not to be confused with the Money Plant) with its ubiquitous braided trunk and with 5 leaves (Note this) on every branch. Exquisite indoor decoration for Ketu's/ Jupiter's region of North East corner.
Vastu experts place Money plants in the South East corner for Venus (Agneya Direction -Fire) activation and for finance, desire manifestation and prosperity.
Money Tree (different from money plant) is more associated with Mula Nakshatra activation (Ketu associated nakshatra in Vimshottari dasa and in Jupiter ruled Sagittarius).
A money tree, or Pachira aquatica, finds its native habitat in Central and South American swamps and while outdoors it can grow to the height of up to 60 feet, a Bonsai Money Tree for indoors can grow upto 3 to 6 feet.
I consider Jupiter to be associated with Number 5 although in numerology it is associated with Number 3.
Note deity of 5-mukhi rudraksha (Kalagni Rudra) and also observe the base number of Jupiter in his numeric totem (Yantra).
Number five is also associated with Panchanan Shiva (five-faced Shiva) and Pancha Gyanyendriyas and Pancha Karmendriyas (5-sense organs and 5-organs of action).
Don't just go with the name of Money. It definitely brings the Karakatwas of Jupiter which is associated with:
+ 2nd Bhava (Fixed assets, speech, family)
+ 5th Bhava (Children, Originality, Purva Punya, Creativity, Authorship, Kuladevata)
+ 9th Bhava (Guru, Belief System, Prosperity, Bhagyada Lakshmi)
+ 10th Bhava (Recognition in Career, Dignity in Career, Father's Wealth and Speech)
+ 11th Bhava (Gains, Desires, Social Network, Repayments of Karmic debts)
Donations - Astrological Remedy
Donations are done for the significations of a planet. If you have caused some suffering in the past, then you have to directly help those who are suffering to remedy the situation.   If you have trouble with your children or conceiving or have issues carrying a child during pregnancy, you may have not been a good parent in the past and if you donate to children’s organization and help children financially, then you are supporting your afflicted Jupiter.
You can donate to current cause and impact your life directly and change the planetary frequencies of that which is blocking you.  A good astrologer can see the actions that are misaligned from the past and then prescribe donations. So for example if you have Venus afflicted by Mars or Rahu, you may have been abusive to women in past lives and so donating to a battered woman’s shelter on a Friday or supporting single mothers raise their children. On a karmic level if you symbolically address the past karma, it can free stuff up and it is a way of saying you are sorry and making an impact on cleaning up your past.
Here is a list of possible planetary connections to donation sites.  So if the planet is afflicted in your and causing problems or if the problem is very directly related to money charts in your chart like 2nd house, and 11th house and even other money houses like 5th and 9th, then you may need to make donations to release the karma.
So if the problem planet is:
SUN:  Paying others medical bills;  donations to a temple; donation to bird protection organizations and those that protect large lions.
MOON: Helping your mother or women who care for children; donating to battered women or single mothers; helping those with depression or other mental disturbances; donating to water life protection.
MARS:  Donating to brothers, veterans, the police, public safety, burn victims or fire victim, helping those going through divorce; helping those needing legal defense; donation to public land or parks.
MERCURY; Helping cousins,, aunts, uncles and students; donations to schools, donations to books and other learning materials, paying for a poor child for school; donating to canine protection.
JUPITER:  Helping husbands, Gurus, priest; adopting a child; donations to teachers,  humanitarian work; helping elephants and whales.
VENUS:  Donating to battered wives or other group; helping women get out of sex industry; helping individuals get married; supporting the arts or horses.
SATURN: Helping employees, working classes, unions, elderly, sick, handicapped, the poor and homeless and reptile reproduction.
RAHU:  Environmental protection, rehab, drug rehab; fighting fraud; cheating and pollution.
KETU: Donations to monks, nuns, ashrams, spiritual healers, yoga organizations, curing viral disease, breaking conspiracies and supporting fish and amphibians
Usually you would choose the day of the week that the planet rules (ie Monday/Moon, Tuesday/Mars etc) to have the most powerful effect. It is thought that donating 3% of your monthly income is a good amount and that if take that amount and divide it into 4 portions for the month and give weekly, then you will have the max. impact.
  If you are very short of money, then better yet, do volunteer work for those organizations to personally mitigate the karma.
SECRETS OF DONATIONS:  GET SPECIFIC
If Mercury is with Saturn  in your chart, it be could be donation for children born with mental retardation if Mercury with Saturn and Rahu then maybe for incurable genetic disorders like autism or Downs syndrome.
So you can get very creative with it and donating is always fun and releases karma.  If you are in a difficult dasha or sub-period, than donating to the dasha or sub-lord chart will probably be helpful if it is causing the theme of the problem.
Timing of Getting job
