June 10 - Solar Eclipse and Sani Jayanthi

On US east coast, Amavasya (started already) will end at 6:53 am tomorrow (June 10). In India, it will end at 4:23 pm on June 10. Try to do the homa before the tithi ends.

There will be a solar annular eclipse on June 10, 2021 at 25 degrees of Taurus, in Mrigashira Nakshatra starting from 5:34 AM to 6:31 AM New York time.

Solar eclipses are great times for introspection, reflection, meditation and all things that put your attention on the inner landscape. Avoid any material pursuits like a high value purchase, asking for favors, moving into new house, proposals, weddings etc,

Mrigashira’s shakti is the power of fulfillment. It is a nakshatra that gives the power to actualize your desires. But it comes with a catch. In order to benefit from Mrigashira’s energy, your desires need to be in line with cosmic will. There is a story that shows how this works. Lord Brahma, the creator, had a daughter. She was very beautiful and he became attracted to her. She sensed his illicit attraction and ran away, taking the form of a doe and running across the heavens. He took the form of a stag and ran after her. When Shiva, the god of destruction, saw what was going on, he snipped off the head of the stag and it took its place in the heavens as Mrigashira, the stag’s head.

The nakshatra of Mrigashira gives the power of fulfillment, so why is the myth about failure to fulfill a desire. That’s the catch! Mrigashira will only help you get what you want if your desire is in line with the laws of nature and is within your dharmic plan. Otherwise, it lets you learn the hard way that not every desire is good for you. It lets you stick your finger in the fire and say, “Ouch! I’ll never do that again!” Think about that when you reflect on your ability to get your desires fulfilled during the period from three days before until three days after the June 10th eclipse.

The eclipse falls within a degree of Mercury in its retrograde arc, which doubles tomorrow's potential for misunderstanding, so take a deep breath before committing and wait two-to-three days until the Waxing Crescent Moon appears in the sky. Spiritual work is deep and affirming, however, and meditation and chanting give you many times their usual value for effort.

Eclipse in this nakshtra can cause a lot of suspicion in personal life and world events. Be attentive to the needs of your loved ones and support them

Do not remain fixated on your opinion during this time.

Since the eclipse Is happening in this nakshtra, avoid all kinds of road and air travel 10 days before and after the eclipse. If you cannot avoid travel listen to Margbhandu strotam.

Fickleness is another important aspect of this nakshtra, so any decision that you make at this time could be subject to change after the eclipse is over. So be aware of that.

Moon is the deity of this nakhstra. So you can chant Om Chandramase Namah.

In addition to the Eclipse, this Vaisakha Amavasya is also Sani Jayanti (Saturn's birthday). It is a terrific day to do a Sani homa. Even if you have never done a homa by yourself before, you should be able to do an easy Sani homa by yourself using the simplest, simple or regular manuals at:

Many people suffering from various troubles are likely to be under Saturn's influence and Sani homa can help, especially on an important day like this.

On this occasion, here is the interpretation of Shani mantra recommended by Maharshi Parasara to appease Saturn. Unlike the literal interpretation given by other Veda commentators, this interpretation is subtler and better explains why this mantra was recommended for Saturn! Mantra is here:
shanno devIrabhiShTaya aapo bhavantu pItaye |
shaMyorabhisravantu naH || (YajurVeda 36.12)

shaM=auspiciously, naH=our, aapaH=inspired actions, devIH=divine, abhiShTaye=for fulfillment of will, bhavantu=may be, pItaye=for protection, shaMyoH=peace and balance, abhisravantu=flow towards, naH=us.
Meaning:
May there auspiciously be our inspired actions for the fulfillment of divine will (may we be willing pawns in the hand of divine, engaging in hard work for divine agenda without resistance or resentment). For our protection (as we engage in inspired actions), may peace and equanimity flow towards us.
In other words, may we perform inspired actions to fulfill divine agenda, with peace and equanimity!
