There will be a Solar Hybrid Eclipse on April 20, 2023. A hybrid eclipse is an eclipse that looks like a total eclipse from one angle and an annular eclipse from another. This eclipse is also predicted to give a short display of Baily’s Beads, beads of sunlight that produce a diamond-ring effect.

The eclipse on April 20th will take place in Ashwini nakshatra at 5 degrees of Aries. This will take place one day before Jupiter enters Aries and Ashwini nakshatra. Jupiter will conjunct the eclipse point on May 15th. When an eclipse takes place and then a transiting planet conjuncts the eclipse point later, as in this case, the conjunction normally triggers some type of event or even a variety of events, on different levels, throughout the world. In this case, Jupiter might have a predominantly beneficial effect. For example, Ashwini is a nakshatra connected with the Ashwini Kumars, the mythological healers. They were also the proverbial ambulance drivers of the gods, driving their golden chariots, drawn by swift horses, across the heavens in order to rescue the gods when they were injured in battle. This symbolism, mixed with Jupiter’s generous nature, might symbolize various events or initiatives that are aimed at rescuing or bringing aid to people in need. This could apply to refugees, people who are in distress due to war, or people who have experienced any type of natural disaster.

Jupiter’s influence on the eclipse point might be felt for a period of about 21 days on either side of May 15th. In this respect, it is interesting that the Biden Administration, in the USA, is scheduled to formally announce the that the Covid pandemic is no longer a public health emergency on May 11th. Of course that announcement is only for the USA, but it is an example of a positive event that might be similar to other events or trends in other parts of the world during the same period.

Jupiter Transit to Aries - 2023

On April 21, 2023, Jupiter leaves the sign of Pisces and enters Aries. It will remain there until May 1, 2024. When Jupiter changes signs, it sends waves of expansive energy in new directions. It brings knowledge, prosperity, opportunity and positive support wherever it transits and wherever it casts its glance.

This Jupiter transit will be unique, since it enters the sign of Aires and the nakshatra of Ashwini one day after a solar eclipse in Aries. The fact that it begins its transit on the heels of an eclipse makes the twelve month period of this transit one that is saturated with spiritual energy. That means that the entire year tends to promote the development of intuition, introspection and deeper insights. It’s a great year for giving up some of your programing and stories and trade them for a more clear-headed look at your life.

During this time, Jupiter will also conjunct Rahu. This is a combination called Guru Chandala Yoga. In a natal chart, this yoga is said to make a person a heretic. Of course, in ancient times, and even in more recent history, a heretic was someone who didn’t believe or act according to the prevailing religious institutions. They were marked as outcasts and rejected by society. People who held a different belief were feared by the rest of society. They were marginalized, criticized, bullied, tortured and even burned at the stake.

In modern times, however, there is more toleration of various belief systems. Well, maybe that is true in developed countries where people are educated and where the laws protect religious freedom and individual expression, but that doesn’t mean that some people don’t still fear and hate others who aren’t part of the mainstream. In fact, with an eighteen year period of Rahu going on in the charts of the USA, UK, European Union, Israel, and (after December 22, 2023) Russia, a large percentage of the world is now in a period where xenophobia, intolerance, bullying and hatred are actually on the rise.

Jupiter’s conjunction with Rahu over the course of this next twelve months, will have two expressions. For some people, it will increase intolerance, xenophobia, religious fanaticism, and political extremism. For others, it will do the opposite, bringing more awareness to the need for promoting mutual acceptance and how to harmonize the many diverse groups in our world. In other words, this transit will probably further polarize the two different sides, and that will bring an increase in the public outcry for fairness and justice, as well as more demonstrations and heated disagreements.

That said, in the charts of individuals, Jupiter’s transit of Aries will give a variety of results. Here is a brief description of how the transit might affect you, based on the house Jupiter is transiting in your horoscope. Remember, we use a different zodiac in Vedic astrology, so you have to look at the birth date ranges for each of the Sun signs carefully. If you happen to know your Vedic Moon sign, Lagna (Ascendant)sign or Arudha Lagna sign, then you can read the results for those signs as well. Venus and Jupiter Conjunction

Venus and Jupiter are conjoined during Feb 21-March 11. Exact conjunction is on March 2nd. Both planets are strong and this can give auspicious results.

What does it mean:

Two Positive and gentle forces coming together and will provide wisdom, clarity and joy

Can sow seeds for long term peace and well being

Could be some tension between idealism and pragmatism

Astronomical Notes:

Astronomically speaking, a conjunction is when two astronomical objects appear close to each other in the sky, as they appear from our view on Earth.

Venus and Jupiter could be seen together after sunset above the west-southwest horizon. Measuring the distance between the two using conventional means – holding your hand at arm’s length and closing one eye – the two planets appeared about a fist-width apart, around 30 minutes after sunset.

On 1 and 2 March, Venus and Jupiter will be less than one degree apart in the sky. That's equivalent to the width of your pinkie when held out at arm's length. When distances get this small, a degree is subdivided further into arcminutes, and there are 60 arcminutes in one degree. Venus and Jupiter will appear 39 arcminutes apart on 1 March at their closest approach, and 45 arcminutes apart the evening after on 2 March.
