In Marriage Election, only solar months are considered except Chaturmas which is a period of four lunar months when Lord Vishnu goes to sleep.

Marriages should not be held when the Sun is transiting through following Rashis
- Karka / Cancer
- Simha / Leo
- Kanya / Virgo
- Tula / Libra
- Dhanu / Sagittarius
- Meena / Pisces
Lunar Months
For marriage election only Solar months are considered. However marriage rituals are not held during Adhik_Maas, Kshaya Masa and Chaturmas. Pitru Paksha or Mahalaya Shraddha period which is also prohibited for auspicious activities falls during Chaturmas
In 2020, Pitru Paksha is from Sept 1st to Sept th
In 2020, Adhik Maas is from Sept 18 to October 16th
In 2020, Navaratri is from October 17th to October 25th
Chaturmas:
This begins from Devshayani Ekadashi, when lord Vishu goes to sleep for four months and wakes up on Prabodhini Ekadashi is also known as Dev Uthani Ekadashi.
Note:
In 2020, Devshayani Ekadashi is on July 1st and Dev Uthani Ekadash is on November 25th
