This week's Full Moon is called Sharad Purnima (Tuesday night in USA), which is considered one of the strongest "most holy" Moons of the whole year. Sharad Purnima Moon has 16 kalas, signifying enormous amounts of divine nectar that one can access at this time. As a great example of the spiritual magnificence of this Moon, Lord Krishna, the perfect incarnation of God (Vishnu), embodies all the 16 kalas of Sharad Purnima. It is also important to know that it was on this Sharad Purnima night that Lord Krishna performed the dance of divine love (Maha Raas).
The cosmic soma emanating at Sharad Purnima is extremely potent for healing and nourishing of body-mind-spirit. Spiritual practices, Moon baths taken, and Moon water made at this time will be highly potent
It is traditional in some places in India to make kheer (rice pudding) to leave out under the Sharad Purnima Full Moon, which is then enjoyed as a healing, protective, and deeply nourishing food for the whole family the next morning. The Moon will move through the gandanta tithi from Revati into Ashwini nakshatra just before midnight on Tuesday night, and will remain in Ashwini until soon before midnight the next day.
This nakshtra is ruled by the Ashwin Kumaras, the horse-headed physicians of the gods, in Vedic lore, there is a potent healing energy here. Working with medicines or healing ceremonies around this full Moon can be especially potent.
A Full Moon represents culmination. It is like a cup overflowing. Although Full Moons are not good times to start new important endeavors, they are good for expressing and emphasizing the values they represent. In this full moon, the energy of Mars, exalted in the 10th house, suggests leadership and assertiveness in action, especially in career. Also, the placements of Venus, Mercury and Jupiter, relative to the Full Moon produce a nice Chandra Adhi Yoga, a combination that is also good for running a business, and making money. Adhi Yoga is also good for education and general good fortune. The full moon itself is a good time for enhancing these qualities, and the next two weeks, as the moon wanes, is a good time to bring plans and projects to a conclusion, or to refine or perfect plans or projects that have already been started. During the full moon itself, it is a good time to be active, assertive and productive, since the energy that is being expressed now will bring your actions towards success.
