Buying Gold on Dhanteras

2021 Muhurat for New Jersey

Dhanteras Muhurat to purchase gold on Tuesday, November 2, 2021
Auspicious timings to Buy Gold on Dhanteras - 07:33 AM to 11:32 PM

Most Hindu families prefer purchasing gold during Diwali. Purchasing gold during Diwali is religiously significant as buying gold during Diwali is considered auspicious. The ritual of buying gold during Diwali is equivalent of inviting Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity at home.

Apart from jewelry, the most preferred items to purchase gold during Diwali are coins. In India, gold coins are specially molded for Diwali with Goddess Lakshmi embossed on the front and her symbol Shri embossed at the other side of the coin. In other coins, both Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha, and optionally Goddess Saraswati, are embossed on gold coins.

The newly bought gold is used during Lakshmi Puja and it is kept inside an artificial home called Hatari (เคนเคŸเคฐी), which is either made of mud or silver. During Lakshmi Puja, the newly bought gold coin is attached to the navel of Goddess Lakshmi with the adhesive which is prepared ad-hoc with Sindoor and pure Ghee.

Like other important activities the most Hindus prefer Muhurat i.e. auspicious time to purchase gold during Diwali. Pushya Nakshatra day and Dhanteras are the two most auspicious days when most of the gold purchasing occurs during Diwali festivity. Nakshatra Pushya, being the birth star of Goddess Lakshmi, has got the honor of being the most auspicious Nakshatra to bring Lakshmi home.

Due to being associated with Goddess Lakshmi, Pushya Nakshatra is considered good for buying gold and gold jewelries for Diwali. When Pushya Nakshatra prevails on Thursday it creates Guru Pushya Yoga or Gurupushyamrut Yoga and when it prevails on Sunday it creates Ravi Pushya Yoga. In Vedic astrology, both Guru Pushya and Ravi Pushya are given utmost importance to perform all sorts of purchasing activities.

In most years Pushya Nakshatra prevails few days before Dhanteras and this day is preferred to do Deepawali shopping, including gold, new clothes and jewelries. Most jewelry shops make special arrangements to handle extra rush on the day of Pushya Nakshatra before Dhanteras. It should be noted that more gold coins are sold on the day of Pushya Nakshatra than the day of Dhanteras. However, on Dhanteras silver coins are more in demand along with Kalash, bowls, spoons, tumblers and Lakshmi-Ganesha statues made of silver.

Apart from Pushya Nakshatra day, Dhanteras is the most significant day to purchase Gold and this day is considered as auspicious as that of Akshaya Tritiya to purchase gold and gold jewelry.

How are you welcoming Lakshmi? Have you de-cluttered your house?

Know the vibrations around you
Documented research of Vastu applications in the last 20 years have proven that every object in your house emanates vibrations that affect your subconscious mind. If the object is kept as per Vastu principles – that is, it is in sync with the attributes of the 16 Vastu zones in your home as well as the five basic elements (the Panchtattva – water, air, fire, earth and space), then the vibrations emitted are positive. If the same object comes in conflict with the zonal energies and the Panchtattva, then it begets negativity. The same is the case with clutter.
A cluttered or unkempt North-East Zone in your house can produce vibrations that directly influence the mind of all individuals living in that house in a negative manner. In Vastu Shastra, the North-East is considered to be the zone of wisdom and clarity of mind. This is the zone where Vastu recommends doing meditation and thinking. This is because the energies present in this zone are responsible for your connectivity with your higher self (your Intuitive and Ananda bodies). When you meditate in this zone of your house, you feel connected and get all the necessary insights and intuitions, which show you the way to move ahead and solve your problems. Hence, if this zone is not clean – but full of clutter, waste, non-useful material, garbage, etc. – then you are not able to clearly see your goals and targets. With a scattered state of mind attracting money is a remote possibility.
When the clutter occurs in North – the zone of money and opportunities, it negates new opportunities in your business and career. And, you are not able to realise money out of your efforts – products and services.
While in the North the clutter affects new opportunities in career, in the South-West direction it creates situations wherein you may end up feeling that you are not able to perform upto the standards. Documented research on Vastu (reference from MahaVastu Handbook, the world’s largest book on Vastu Shastra) says that the South-West direction is responsible for sharpening of your skills. When you store clutter and waste products in this zone of your home or work place, the positivity and harmony in the ‘space’ gets disturbed. By storing clutter in South-West, you are unknowingly attracting such situations wherein you are not able to concentrate on your work and the result is poor performance. Due to this, your financial stability also gets affected.
Likewise, clutter in West of South-West – which is the Vastu zone of studies and savings – may make children in the house restless. Their attention keeps wandering here and there, which does not let them focus on their studies. Also you find it hard to save more.
The best remedy that Vastu recommends to get rid of problems caused by clutter is to get rid of the clutter itself. Clutter can be in many forms, starting from that stack of old newspapers in the dark corner of the storeroom, to packaging material that you thought you would use someday but never touched. It can be an old washing machine or refrigerator that you thought you would discard some day, old waste papers/documents that have no relevance today, or even your broken artefacts or furniture. There are so many similar things that could be kept in cupboards that you hardly open, under the kitchen shelves, or in some corner of your balcony.
So, this Diwali clean your home of all clutter and keep things in organised manner. This will help you become more organised in your approach. With systematic and organised approach, you will attract more money, happiness, love and prosperity in your life.
