The Esoteric Secrets of Scorpio Sign and Blue Egyptian Water Lily
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scorpio is a Fixed, Watery Sign. It is associated with Moola (Plant Kingdom), Moksha (Liberation) and it rules the North direction.
Scorpio being the natural 8th Bhava it was associated with Randhra (Aperture or Cavity or Hole) and Mrityu (Death).
Scorpio is a Pristodaya (rising from behind) and Female Rashi.
It is Mars’ Own Sign and Ketu is the Co-Sign Lord. Hence this Rashi is also associated with Asthamurti (Asthamurti refers to the eight significant attributes of Shiva/ Rudra) as it is the eighth sign of the natural zodiac.
Moon is Debilitated in Scorpio and hence Shiva wears the Crescent Moon on his forehead as an Ornament to remove its Neechattva (Fall).
Chanting or Japa of Ashtakam (Octet - a eight fold hymn, a prayer with eight rhyming verses) is very effective for Scorpio.
Recitation of Sadashiva Ashtakam is effective if Sun is in Scorpio.
Recitation of Sri Rudrashtakam (by Swami Tulsidas) or Chandrashekara Ashtakam (by Maharishi Markandeya) or Parvati Vallabha Ashtakam is effective if Moon is in Scorpio.
Recitation of Kiratha Ashtakam is effective if Mars is in Scorpio.
Recitation of Bilva Ashtakam is effective if Mercury is in Scorpio.
Recitation of Guru Ashtakam (by Sri Adi Shankaracharya) is effective if Jupiter is in Scorpio.
Recitation of Ranganatha Ashtakam (by Sri Adi Shankaracharya) is effective if Venus is in Scorpio.
Recitation of Yama Ashtakam is effective if Saturn is in Scorpio.
Recitation of Kalabhairava Ashtakam is effective if Rahu/ Ketu is in Scorpio.
Recitation of Shiva Ashtakam is effective if Lagna (Ascendant) is in Scorpio.
Reciting these mantras in the Ishana (North East) direction is very effective.
Since Scorpio is associated with Fixed, Watery, Female and Moola (Plant Kingdom); Scorpio is associated with Organic Blue Egyptian Lotus (Nymphaea Caerulea) also called as Blue Water Lily (or Blue Egyptian Water Lily), and also as Sacred Blue Lily.
Since it is Pristodaya Rashi, the Blue Lotus blossoms around 9:30 am and close about 3:00 pm with respect to the Sun.
Its original habitat has been along the Nile river and other parts of North East Africa.
It was the symbol of the Egyptian deity Nefertem (Water-Lily of the Sun) who has arisen from the primal waters.
“Blue Lotuses have been depicted in numerous stone carvings and paintings, including the walls of the famous temple of Karnak, and are frequently depicted in connection with "party scenes", dancing or in significant spiritual or magical rites such as the rite of passage into the afterlife.” - Wikipedia
Nymphaea Caerulea contains psychoactive alkaloid aporphine (mildly sedating effect) and were known to both the Mayans and the Ancient Egyptians.
The Blue lotus is banned (possession and distribution is illegal) since 2009 in Latvia, Poland and Russia due to its psychoactive properties.
In some places people keep dried lotus as a lucky charm in a water cup (See Pic).
This lotus has been used to produce perfumes since ancient times; it is also used in aromatherapy.
I’ll be teaching the Esoteric Secrets of Rashis (Zodiac Signs) in a Course on 4th and 5th July on “Dr Arjun Pai Astrology” Weekend Webinars.
