Mars in scorpio
Hello all, here we are after yesterday's Scorpio eclipse, and now Mighty Mars, the ruler of Scorpio, is making some moves! Mars, also known as Angaraka, Mangala, or Kuja in Vedic astrology, represents our fire energy manifesting in action, power, character, and unconditional self-worth.
Transiting Mars moved into his own constellation of Scorpio, i.e., Vrishchika rashi, at approximately 7:28 PM EST last evening. Mars had been transiting in sidereal Libra since October 21, a situation which tends to dampen the healthiest expression of fire. In its lower expression, Mars in Venus’ sign of Libra can be competitive, self-centered, too forceful, self-righteous, lacking in self-control, ineffective in negotiations, and clumsy in communication.
Mars will transit through Scorpio constellation from December 4, 2021, to January 16, 2022, which means that for some of us, especially those of us who are ruled by Mars (having an Aries or Scorpio ascendant, Sun, or Moon, or currently being in a Mars dasha), our fire energy is able to come “back online” now in a more vibrant way. Certain stalled internal energies will start to open up, and problems can be resolved more quickly and successfully than has been the case in the past month and a half.
The warrior Mars is in his own domain in Scorpio, i.e., it is the sign he rules according to traditional and Vedic astrology. Here he generally and oftentimes reveals a healthier expression of our strong warrior energy, which is dynamic, enjoys resolving opposition, and demonstrates enough strength so that there is no need for force.
Mars in Scorpio embodies penetrating physical and psychological energy, as in the capacity to explore deeply into hidden realms, and this is accentuated as Mars moves along with Ketu during this month; both are at home here in the sign of deep wisdom and feeling, extreme exertion, and powerful tenacity. Scorpio is the “feminine” sign of Mars, which can also represent great healing power and the urge for transformation and spiritual surrender.
I see novice astrologers saying that Mars is “aggressive” in its own signs as this makes him “too strong.” But it is quite the opposite in many cases, and particularly if you consider that Mars symbolizes our inner warrior archetype which prefers to be in his full power, as a warrior cannot thrive and be effective in the signs of his weakness.
Mars is traveling faster than normal now which is called Atichara in Vedic astrology, when a planet enters a new sign in accelerated motion, which does indicate some potential for difficulties in the world in the weeks ahead, which I have discussed many times in the past several months related to the fact that transiting Mars will cross over and conjoin yesterday’s solar eclipse points in Scorpio (Ketu, the Sun, Moon, the fixed star Antares, and Mercury).
Using effective orbs of influence, these triggers are in place all of December into the beginning of January, but the exact conjunctions of Mars to these eclipse points are as follows: Mars will conjoin Ketu December 15; Antares December 27-29; and the Sun and Moon December 31; and Mercury on January 4. These conjunctions can be triggers for violent behavior, disasters, accidents, reversals, drama, deception, and also for some truth to be revealed, etc. Sage Varahamahira also states in Brihat Samhita that when Mars is Atichara, there can be “fear of destructive fires.” I feel this is meant to be literal but is also figurative. So, it is recommended to be especially mindful and focused on our spiritual practices more than ever as we proceed through the month of December into the New Year ahead.
Mars is in Vishakha nakshatra from November 15 to December 10. This area spans from 20 degrees of Libra to 3 degrees 20 minutes of Scorpio, and though it is known for its fixity in purpose and herculean accomplishments, Vishakha can be somewhat fixated, aggressive, dictatorial, and impatient. After it leaves this nakshatra, Mars will enter Anuradha nakshatra, the "star of success," where it will transit until December 28. This asterism is usually good for health and vitality and harmonious relations. After Anuradha, Mars will complete its Scorpio transit in the passionate and charitable Jyestha nakshatra, the sign of the divine warrior and dragon slayer Lord Indra who is known for his courage and power to rise up in the battle for truth.
O’ Mighty Mars, with loving reverence I bow before you!
You glow with fiery red passion,
And you are the epitome of courage and dynamism.
You actively benefit all beings,
Homage to you, Lord Mangala!
Love and light,
Juliana

2022 Solar Eclipse in Scorpio
Now is a great time to transform the hidden stress, buried trauma and imagined fears into something more sustaining and invigorating. Scorpio is that sign where we must reckon with the fact that we have no control over anything or anyone. This makes us feel vulnerable, and then lash out to protect ourselves.
We need to be careful to not create imagined enemies out of our imagined fears. This is the dark and negative side of Scorpio, where we can self sabotage our own happiness.
This powerful eclipse has a debilitated moon, where the emotions are restless. However, Ketu, the South node is very strong and bringing great insight into this damaging psychological and emotional habit.
Shortly after the eclipse, Mars, the ruler of Scorpio moves into this sign. Thus, the days leading up to the eclipse may feel pretty stressful but immediately after there should be a lot of discipline and self control at our disposal.
But we need to be careful not to lash out at others. Be very aware of the tendency for breakups and blowups and emotional attacks on others, especially those who you think are disrespecting you, etc.
Libra falls in the 12th house from Scorpio, representing the most unintegrated part of this sign. Meaning, far too often Scorpio unconsciously projects the notion that they are being dis respected, then as a response they wind up being disrespectful and agressive.
Total Solar Eclipse (4 December) occuring in Jyeshta Nakshatra, in the very heart of sidereal Scorpio, will be energetically most intense and transformative astrological event of the year. Scorpio is a sign representing all those dark corners within our subconscious mind hiding rejected particles of ourselves which we are often afraid to face - and yet, it is in those "dark places" that we often find the greatest wisdom, potential and liberation.
It will be a powerful time for inner transformation and healing. But as Mars will enter Scorpio just a day after the eclipse, joining two other fiery grahas (Sun and Ketu), we all may also feel a bit more tensed, stressed and nervous than usual. Impulsiveness and sudden outbursts of emotions may occur, as this intense conjuction will be putting a lot of pressure on our nervous system. It is a good idea to increase our daily dose of meditation and yoga in this time period, as well as find our own ways to pacify our nervous system in this time period, so we can truly embrace the transformation that Total Solar Eclipse will bring with itself, rather than fight with it.
